上周六，尼泊尔遭受80年來最严重的地震 -7.9級袭击。最古老的塔已坍塌。铁路、电力及自来水被切断。在锡金(Sikkim) 的土崩，引发了珠峰雪崩。目前死亡人数已超过3,600，而且还会上升。在与各救援团体联系后，许多受影响的地区偏远，只能航空联系。超过1/3的人民是住在距离4小时路程的山区。

An 80 year old dreaded warning took place with a 7.9 earthquake in Nepal on Saturday. The oldest tower has collapsed. Rail, power, water are disconnected. Landslides were triggered in Sikkim, with an avalanche in Everest. The latest deaths is over 3,600 and rising. In contact with various aid groups, many of the sites affected are remote and reachable by air. Over 1/3 people living in hills are more than 4 hours away from an all weathered road.
HISTEAM is responding to this disaster in the following ways: 1) Collaborate with our partner CREST. They are getting a team out by this week for recce. Trained and skilled volunteers are encouraged to register for possible deployment in future. Please write or call CREST office – (603)56387299 / [email protected] or HISTEAM office – (603)51221130. Fax/email your transaction slip to (603) 56387297 and write on slip – NEPAL Earthquake 2015, your name and postal address and telephone number for us to send receipt. 2) We know that there are many Nepalese working in Malaysia, in fact some of them are Christian. We urge the children of God to show the love to those affected, their family and the church in disaster zones. As we know, CNEC Malaysia initiated a relief campaign, to send in relief items and to help in rebuilding their houses in later stage. All churches are welcome to participate to show solidarity. This effort involves working with Nepalese fellowship nationwide. Donation can be made to Christian Nationals Evangelism commission @ Maybank account: 501208604332. On the other hand, we would like to thank our friends and partners who have showed concerns over this tragedy. Many are willing to present and help in ground zero. But as a matter of caution, this required experienced or trained volunteers. We would like to invite you to a Disaster Response Training co-organized by NECF, CREST, FGB, World Vision, MCR, and HISTEAM. This training will be held from the 13-15 May at Wisma Eagles, Full Gospel Tabernacle. With a mere registration fees of RM150, you may get yourself certified with International Disaster Response Network (IDRN) badge. This badge is recognized worldwide and is able to provide access to disaster zones for relief work. With this, you will be able to do more when disaster strikes. Last but not least, we are still in the recovery & rebuilding phase of East Coast flood last year.
