Begin to see the needs in the communit

In those days, brothers and sisters hardly have any contact with the needy, although they are expose to some unfortunate families’ ordeal from newspaper or social media, it was unthinkable and we were clueless on how to intervene. Social care often limited to visitation to old folk homes or orphanage only, or house visitation that initiated by church. After we got to know HISTEAM, brothers and sisters started to see the need to intervene into the lives of many group of people who needed caring or help.
Through HISTEAM, now our church has some ideas of practical actions that can be taken. Church’s knowledge on social concern has widen, we learnt to do referral whenever a case is beyond our capabilities. Our church has a fulltime social worker, therefore our social care is not limited to weekend but also on weekdays.
Companionship class on Monday to Thursday allows brothers and sisters to develop their gifts on how to serve under-privilege children, e.g. Transportation, cooking, teaching, accompany, etc. These chores are rotate by 25 to 30 brothers and sisters.
Due to ministering to crisis hit families or some needy families, brothers and sisters now have the opportunities to visit non-believers’ families to spread God’s love to the community. Personally, I think the level of cooperation that we have now is satisfactory, although there are still occasionally some administration pitfalls, but that doesn’t cause much troubles, it can be easily solve just by communication.

HISTEAM ministry has broaden my Social concern perspective, I discovered that actually there are many Christian who are in this line of serving our neighbor, this realization has gets rid of my loneliness. HISTEAM has also become an important resource centre for me, it has increased my efficiency, I’m able to extend help faster and more confidently.
